You can't have a blog button without a blog

Hello! Do people even read anymore? Are blogs still a thing? Ok, well, I'll try to update weekly-ish, let y'all know what I'm up to with the making of art.

Currently, I'm taking a figure drawing class and an art history class, and I like them both. On a more personal level, I'm painting a giant canvas full of my younger son's fascinating eyeball. He has sectoral heterochromia, which is cool, but what makes it cooler are the colors in his iris - gold, blue, lavender. Here it is, with a ways to go:

And because I seem to be kind of obsessed with family right now, I've also started a pic of my mom, circa 1984. I was 15 years old, and we lived in a dingy studio apartment. This one will probably take about a year to finish, because 1) it's also huge, and 2) I'm trying to capture as much of the detail of the place as I can remember. Also, my mom is *really* into lace and artificial flowers.

It's just terrible. I really hope eventually it won't be.

This is the first in a new series that I'm doing on giant canvases around the theme of the 80's. I am super excited about this series. I'll post updates as I have them.

Hope you had a solid holiday! Happy 2020!
